DanceBody opened their THIRD New York City space on November 10th and it is beautiful! I was lucky enough to check it out on opening day! As they say, once a dancer, always a dancer….
I instantly loved this place because of how warm and inviting the space, staff and clients are. DanceBody offers 6 types of classes but today I took ‘Sculpt’. This class also included some dance moves but they all were “follow along” – no experience necessary.
TravelFitLOVE: I was dripping after class… LOVE that! The class combined some dance moves but it mostly focused on small muscle toning. DanceBody has custom mats with numbers on them so each move is associated with a number / placement of your body. This was really helpful in understanding if our leg was behind us (6) or more diagonal (5) I have never seen this before and found it to be super helpful! The music was awesome and kept the energy in the room high! Overall, it was a great full body sweat sess.
Additional Notes: You can take this class at your own pace. Being almost 8 months pregnant at the time, I removed the ankle weights and still got a great workout. Be sure to check the schedule and the class type as some of their classes build on over time through the choreography. (IE: ‘Follow Along’ doesn’t involve a full dance routine). You don’t have to be a dancer to take class but there’s still some coordination involved. The facility has two showers, lockers and a beauty bar so you can freshen up after class.
