Philadelphia, PA

PHL: I had been to Philadelphia as a child a few times but I had never explored the city as an adult.  So what better weekend to visit the City of (Brotherly) Love than Valentines weekend?

We stayed at the newly renovated, Logan Hotel.  It was previously The Four Seasons but has been rebranded and is a boutique option.  It sits in Logan Square which is a great location.  We were able to walk to most places, even in during the coldest weekend of the year. In addition to Logan Square, Rittenhouse Square is also a good option to stay around.

Philly is a great ‘Travel-Fitness-Love’ city. We got there and immediately went to the Famous Rocky steps at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. The steps are a great workout in itself and many fitness groups use this area for training.

The following morning, we took class at Body Cycle Studio. The studio is in a basic loft space with no frills. Bring water and your own shoes or you can use the cages.  We followed the music and rode to the RPMs provided by the instructor. Your first class is free so it’s worth checking out!  I also got this cute tank from there (see below).  The studio is a few blocks from Steve’s Prince of Steaks which we earned after the class (vegetarian style)  😉

From there, we walked to Love Park and Reading Terminal Market. It was really cool to see all of the different vendors and meander through the aisles.

The following day we made our way to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.  For some active touring, check out the 3-mile outdoor journey featuring  more than 30 historical sites in the Independence National Historical Park area.  This is a great and active way to engage in History and see Philly, without sitting on a tour bus.

Philadelphia is very much on top of their fitness scene with the opening of Flywheel, Crossfit studios, and lots of Barre options. I would recommend 2-3 nights here to take in American History, enjoy food, and to get in a great workout.
