Greenwich, CT

HPN: For the past few years, I had been wanting to get out of the city and take weekend trips away, to nearby towns. (Stay tuned for more posts on local destinations)  I was so excited to spend some time with my sister, and just as excited about discovering Greenwich, Connecticut.

I know for some people reading this, it may just seem like the town they grew up in. But it is a GREAT getaway from Manhattan and a perfect #TravelFitLove destination.

WHERE TO STAY: We stayed at the cutest Bed and Breakfast called the Stanton House Inn.  It was a 5 minute drive from the train station and an easy walk into town. Since we are “city girls”, walking was not a problem for us.  They had a wonderful patio, great pool, and delicious morning breakfast.

If you prefer to stay on the harbor, I would suggest Delamar.  You get beautiful views of the harbor and a wonderful restaurant (with awesome live music on Saturday nights) connected.

WHAT TO DO: Greenwich Avenue is the main street full of restaurants and stores. So, if you just want to stroll around, that’s your place!  One of the things I loved on the main street was all of the artwork and sculptures placed on each block.  It provided an artistic aspect to our walk.

For more outdoor fun, take the Ferry over to Island Beach or Great Captains Island. They are about 20 minutes from the Port and a great way to spend the afternoon.  But be sure to bring lunch/snacks and things to do because it really is just a beach Island.

September 23-24 is the Greenwich Wine + Food Festival. This is a great excuse to check out this #TravelFitLove town.

HOW TO STAY ACTIVE:  Greenwich is FULL of fitness studios so a boutique class is not hard to come by.  From Soul Cycle to Yoga, to a handful of athleisure stores, there is something for everyone.  However, we decided to be active by Hiking in Mianus River Park. It was so great to leave the city and get into nature. There are different trails and pathways to go on and all are very easy to navigate.  Take an uber to the Cognewaugh Road entrance and enjoy hiking next to the river, up the rocks, and around the greens.

Overall, I was so impressed by Greenwich and loved how close it was from Manhattan, while providing so many other things that we don’t have in the city.  From Beaches, to hiking, to relaxing at your Inn, I would highly recommend Greenwich, CT for a weekend getaway.
