Sydney, Australia

SYD: One of my favorite cities in the world – for SO many reasons. People are friendly, its clean, you have the city, beaches, and mountains all near by… It holds a special place in my heart.

I must admit, I actually LOVE the time change and jetlag from traveling to Australia.  You go to bed early and you are up by 5am to get the day started.  I enjoy going for a run down to the Sydney Opera House and seeing the Harbour and Bridge at Sunrise. I usually do this on my first morning there – it brings back so many memories from my time living there.

The Rocks / Circular Quay is a great area to stay around in Sydney.  Just note that you will pay for location here… Anything in the CBD (Central Business District), South of Hyde Park would be ideal.

One of my favorite Sydney City tours is with Bonza Bike . It is a great way to explore the city, get your baring’s, learn the history of Sydney, and at the same time, get in some exercise. Bonza has 4 different tours but my favorite is the Classic tour which is 4 hours. It will take you all around Downtown Sydney, stop on the Bridge, and even at a pub for a break.  Its the perfect combination of being active while having a travel experience.

Another great active tour option is the Sydney Bridge Climb. Why do a Stairmaster when you can climb and experience the amazing views from above?! This is only 3 hours and is a great way to start your trip or combine it with other activities in one day.

The Coogee to Bondi Coastal walk is great way to get in some free exercise – it’s a self guided experience through the Beach towns.  I recommend starting in Coogee beach and make your way through Clovelly Beach, Bronte Beach, Tamarama Beach and end in Bondi Beach. If you’re up for surf lessons after that, check out Let’s Go Surfing. Otherwise, visit ICEBERGS for a well deserved meal. This is a great option for your “free” day at leisure.

Want to get out of Sydney?  Take a day trip to the Blue Mountains where you can go hiking,  visit lookout points, and enjoy the nature.

Sydney has so many options to stay active while travelling there.  Boutique fitness classes are popping up and Classpass Australia also recently launched.
