The fitness and wellness industry have been booming over the past few years. And now, the travel industry is joining in on the workouts. Hotels have been collaborating with local studios to provide workout experiences for their travelers. Additionally, many hotels are starting their own programs to offer. Some of my favorite experiences include:
WESTIN
RunWESTIN – Westin has teamed up with New Balance to provide running routes through the local destination. Whether it is in the city or along the beach, concierge has the best maps to explore. Additionally, Westin can provide you with the workout gear if you forget yours (or if you decide to leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs)
In Room – Select locations are also providing in room workout equipment. Treadmills, bikes, and more, are available for complete fitness access! There is “no excuse” when the equipment is right there in your room!
W HOTELS
W Hotels are collaborating with different studios and trainers to give their travelers a full service experience. The New York properties have just launched with Swerve Fitness – a boutique spin studio that combines teamwork with cycling. There is a mutually beneficial relationship between the two. While a New York based spin studio, Swerve is now able to give out of town guests the experience while fostering their NYC community of riders. Swerve members will also have access to VIP rates at W Hotels.
The Fort Lauderdale location hosts beach bootcamps and yoga sessions, all a part of your resort fee. We just had to show up and get ready to sweat!
EVEN Hotels
This IHG brand hotel was developed with the fit traveler in mind. EVEN Hotels provide healthy meal options, fitness experiences and even has a Wellness Advisory Board which is up to date on all things ‘WELL’. The hotel has developed their own videos to allow the traveler to workout in their room or in the gym with instruction and motivation. I always find it easier and more encouraging to have someone pushing your throughout the session.
This is just the beginning of the Travel Industry and Fitness Industry joining forces. We continue to see brands develop ideas and opportunities to provide healthy experiences. So next time you’re on vacation and trying out their exercise option, just remember that you’ll be working hard and earning that Pina Colada!
